11 Days: Serengeti Walking Mobile Camp

This extraordinary journey promises unforgettable moments and an authentic safari experience in the heart of East Africa. Witness the wild beauty of the iconic Serengeti national park, encounter awe-inspiring wildlife, and immerse yourself in the untamed landscapes.

Day 1: Arrival & Adventure

You will be met in Arusha by Super Africa Wildlife Adventure Safaris limited representative. Drive for around two hours to reach the colorful, bustling Mto Wa Mbu Village. Take a guided walk through the village and learn about Tanzania's cultures. End the tour with a traditional lunch at a local restaurant. Then drive deep into Lake Manyara National Park to your Manyara Mobile Camp. The Manyara mobile camp is one of the very few accommodations located within Lake Manyara National Park which means it is less busy and you'll also be able to end your evening with a  drive in search of  wildlife. Overnight Lake Manyara Serena Lodge -

Day 2

The Serengeti National Park is one of the best wildlife destinations in Africa - attracting so many visitors that some roads become congested. However, only a small portion of this vast park is accessed by road by the majority of safari operators. Thus with a little know-how, it is possible to explore the Serengeti on an almost 'private' basis. Sizeable sections of the Serengeti National Park have been designated wilderness areas where only walking safaris are allowed. Three nights or more in one of these wildernesses can be an amazing part of a safari to northern Tanzania.

From about December to May the conditions in Kilimafeza, a wilderness area north- east of Seronera, become perfect for a walking mobile safari. By late May, and depending on the weather patterns and wildlife movements, this area becomes dry and hot, so the focus changes to Kogatende, a wilderness area south of Lamai, bordering the Mara River in northern Serengeti. This is best visited between about June to November.

If, before you travel, the weather patterns and wildlife movements mean that these recommendations change, then we will suggest that your itinerary is altered to get for you the best wildlife experience. So we ask that you retain a sense of adventure and flexibility when booking these walking safari mobile camps.

  • Main Destination: Serengeti National Park
  • Accommodation: Tukaone Serengeti Camp
  • Meals & Drinks: All meals included Drinking water

Day 3

The Kilimafeza wilderness walking area, east of Seronera, is made up of rolling hills covered by acacia woodland. There are two possible mobile camp sites here, one in a valley near an ephemeral river, and the other set among kopjies (rocky outcrops). During a stay of three or more nights here you may move sites: walking the 8km distance from one to another whilst the camp team moves your accommodation.

Strictly speaking, these areas are not 'private. That said, at time of writing, only three safari operators have the authority to offer walking safaris in the 1,500km2 wilderness area east of Seronera so your time here is almost guaranteed to be exclusive. It's a remote and wild area, perfect for exploring on foot. Note that, within the area, these mobile walking camps are private; once booked, your trip is guaranteed to be exclusive and we will not ask you to mix with other travelers.

Overnight: Serengeti Savannah Camp -

Day 4 - 5

The Kogatende walking area, in northern Serengeti, also has two possible sites: one on the banks of the Mara River and shaded by fig and acacia trees, and the other a little away from the river, set between kopjies and surrounded by terminalia woodland. The area as a whole is perfectly situated to view the wildebeest migration as it crosses from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara and back. Walking safaris take you through woodland or along flat riverside plains where it's possible to position yourselves, waiting to watch a migration crossing. Kogatende is only a short drive from the game-drive area of northern Serengeti, so a game drive during your time here is also available on request. Each mobile camp is made up of canvas dome tents furnished with comfortable mattresses, a central mess tent and campfire, a bathroom tent and a bush kitchen. Two camp assistants take on all the camp chores. Meanwhile the camp chef prepares excellent meals over the fire. All you need do is enjoy exploring the area with your excellent guide and choose what to drink for sundowners!

Each walking safari is led by an armed guide and accompanied by an armed national park ranger. Led by this knowledgeable and informative pair, you'll appreciate the change from being a casual observer in a game-drive vehicle to becoming part of the environment - it's a heady experience. The game viewing can be very good, but you will also learn about the smaller things too - the eco-system, animal behaviour, insects, birds and plants.

Day 6

Game driving deeper still into the Serengeti, your destination is a remote wilderness where only very few safari operators and visitors are allowed. There are almost no roads here and so, leaving your vehicle at camp, you'll venture out each day on foot led by a professional walking safari guide. Exploring on foot heightens the senses and allows you to enjoy some of the smaller creatures found here. Although you won't often get as close to big game as you would from a safari vehicle, this experience can often be even more exhilarating and rewarding. After each walking safari you'll return to your Serengeti Walking Mobile Camp.  Overnight: Serengeti Savannah Camp -

Day 7: Serengeti  park -Nairobi

Today you will be driven to Nairobi via Arusha after morning breakfast. You will arrive in Nairobi at New Stanley Sarova Hotel -

Day 8: Nairobi - Drive to Meru National Park

Depart after breakfast for Meru National Park. This achieved worldwide fame with its association to Joy Adamson's Born Free. A wide range of wildlife including elephant, hippopotamus, lion, leopard, cheetah, reticulated giraffe, and zebra.  The bird life is also impressive and there are roughly 280 recorded species. After lunch you can spend some time on your hill view verandah, before enjoying an extended afternoon game drive. Overnight at the exclusive Elsa Kopjes

Day 9 and 10: Meru National Park

Today you will wake up for your morning game drive with Super Africa Wildlife Adventure Safaris guide then back for your breakfast at the Lodge, after lunch you will drive out for your full afternoon game drive ,Overnight at the ELSA SKOPJE LODGE -
It is also one of Kenya's most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy's zebras and Beisa Oryxes. We also enjoy Larsens Tented Camp or Samburu Intrepids Camp, our luxurious hostelry set beneath a canopy of acacia trees along the banks of the river. Meru National Park is one of Kenya's least visited game parks, despite having a great deal to offer. The area is most famous as the place in which Elsa, the lioness, was returned to the wild. Off all the Kenya parks Meru presents the widest variety of landscapes and habitats. Forest, swamp and savannah are pierced by several small rivers all rising on Mount Kenya and all destined to reach the Tana River which forms the park's lower boundary.
This marvellous sanctuary is home to a great variety of wildlife. All the 'Big Five' are present and the park is one of the best in which to locate cheetah and leopard. High precipitation levels mean that the area is covered in thick grass, jungle and marsh, sometimes making game hard to spot. On the other hand, this only adds to Meru's wild, untamed atmosphere.
